About Rutter’s Dairy

The roots of Rutter’s Dairy are planted deeply in the soil of Central Pennsylvania, in farmland deeded to the Rutter family in 1747 by descendants of Pennsylvania’s founder, William Penn. Rutter’s family farm has been in operation for 266 years, making it one of the oldest continually operated family farms in America.

Not Only Are We Local but Rutter’s is Also:

Local Happy Cows

Fresh

Count on Rutter’s for the farm-fresh milk that you’ve grown to love! Rutter’s dairy products come from over 30 local area dairy farmers. All Rutter’s milk comes from cows that are not treated with artificial growth hormones (rBST). rbST, recombinant bovine somatotropin, is a synthetic hormone that is injected into dairy cows to increase the cow’s milk production. Although rbST is approved by the FDA, Rutter’s has made the choice to not allow rbST to be used by the farmers that supply us with milk. Our farmers have signed legal binding affidavits making their pledge that they will not use rbST on their cows. Rutter’s believes in giving its customers choices that help separate our products from other brands of milk.

On-site bottling in York, Pa assures maximum quality and freshness. Our new fresh-pasteurized cream product has a sell-by date 17 days from its production, the same as Rutter’s milk products. Fresh pasteurization allows the product to be bottled in its purest form, just milk and cream, without the use of stabilizers or preservatives. And all the bottles we make (over a million!) are recyclable.

Healthy

We have recently made several healthy changes to our milk, cream and iced tea beverages to further improve the quality. We have eliminated high-fructose corn syrup from both of our chocolate milk products, as well as our green tea, orange tea, mint green tea, tropical blend, tea cooler, half & half, and lemonade.

Delicious

Refresh yourself with Rutter’s! We make a delicious assortment of juices, spring water, and a distinctive line of Rutter’s thirst-quenching original and flavored iced teas. Choose from family-sized gallon bottles to individual bottles for on-the-go.
